PREFACE

The one who poses an inquiry after universal truth, sTym!   satyam, stands at a glorious juncture in life.  Most people do seek after truth in everyday life in the most simple ways in mundane matters.  Throughout their lifetimes they may be guided even if mysteriously by a sudden recognition of truth.  This may be  truth which comes to their perception in a time of need; yet with the courage to follow what they see their destiny is preserved, so that gladdened might be their hearts.  A more universal plane of truth is available for seeking also in a constant, unending way, so that the same more typical element of truth which infuses the lives and decisions in everyday matters can be honed in upon through active, concerted inquiry.  The relative realm of objective reality has actually arisen out of the absolute realm of reality; that realm of the absolute can be sought after in the subjective mode from the seat of 'I', the Aatma aatmaaIt is this greater inquiry which can pose a deeper understanding of the truest, most essential nature of things -- reality. This reality in question is also of an ultimate genre; it is inTy nitya.  The distinguishing feature of  inTy nitya which universalizes it in meaning in such an inquiry of metaphysical import as is meet with sTym!  satyam concerns time.  According to the definition of that which knows no change in feature throughout the three periods of time inTy nitya is.  This fundamental query after what is most real according to definitions and according to the profound drive to know truth will bless the lives of those who seek after it, giving unending possibilities of glory through greater knowledge, awareness of the self and awareness of reality.  Henceforth, the entire work of metaphysical explication held here at Sound and Light: The Sanskrit Primer of Metaphysics is offered humbly unto those whose lives are indeed blessed with such an inquiry in the metaphysical realm of endeavor.  This primer will bring profound insight into the ancient language of Sanskrit into greater and greater light, so that a language whose attributes are born of that very inquiry after sTym!  satyam will serve such inquiry most fundamentally; indeed, inquiry itself can be seen as hypostatic to the sounds of the language of Sanskrit.

       Sarasvati namaste

    Salutations unto Thee, Sarasvati

Sarasvati is the wife of Lord Brahman, and takes charge of all studies and learning.  Invoking the name and guidance of Sarasvati is an act of devotion which cannot be measured or understood directly, perhaps.  However, Sarasvati will fulfill the desire for success if humbly supplicated in all endeavors of the world, the creation together.  Praises unto the Goddess Sarasvati for her gifts to mankind, and each as conferred through the individual.  May all of your studies be blessed by Sarasvati.
